Meet Lu, your Home Stylist

Welcome to “Style by Lu Interiors” I hope you find some inspiration from my page. I pride myself in bringing a sense of balance and style into your home. No home is the same so I will uniquely work with you to transform the whole outlook of each space.

Styled by Lu interiors was formed during the first lockdown in February 2020. What started as a spontaneous idea of mine with the help of my family and friends, I decided to take the plunge and put my passion and make it into a reality. I have always been intrigued with interiors from a very young age. My forte is textiles and I love to reupholster or basically create anything and everything using fabrics. I was born in Peru, but moved to Australia when I was 8. I have always loved exotic, textured and handmade textiles. Growing up in a third world country like Peru, I learnt how to sew at a very young age. I remember cutting the hems of my dresses so I could make my Barbie’s some clothes as I could not afford to buy any for my dolls. My sofa was milk crates sprayed and styled with hand made cushion seats for comfort, something my kids cannot comprehend. However these experiences have defined me as the person I am today. I can turn anything into something that matters, any space big or small I will find the best way to utilise it. My vision and imagination have grounded me as a very popular designer. since opening my business a year ago, I have had the pleasure of styling 50 rooms and counting.

My experience comes from moving homes and countries around 20 times throughout my life. I grew up in a family of 7 so money was never something we had. I remember growing up in rundown homes, where I would from a young age style to make it fun and create a fake world within the space I was allocated, sometimes just a corner of a room would be mine. Not knowing any difference I knew a few flowers, hand made cushions etc would make my space unique to my other siblings who also possessed their own talent.

My mum was always my inspiration and was a very talented seamstress so I learnt everything from her.

My vision for the future is to create my own line of design products, idelally ones that resembles where I am originally from.

I want to work with homes big or small, and for people to know that budget should not stop you from creating beautiful living spaces. Sometimes working with what you already have is much more rewarding.
You may just need someone’s help to achieve the best possible finish within your home and that person could just be me. Lucia
